He lives in Bag End, a particularly fine hobbit-hole, with polished brass knobs, richly colored rugs, and a warm hearth. Bilbo is content with his predictable, quiet life, and the thought of adventure fills him with dread.

The Unexpected Party:

Gandalf: A tall, imposing figure with a long grey beard, a pointed hat, and a staff that seems to hold ancient power.
